Dinner time for Top Cat

This design is suited for plates, however it can be adapted to many types of greenware.

The following colours have been used in this design, however other colours can be used.

Duncan EZ Strokes translucent underglazes: 
       EZ003 Irish Green
       EZ006 Forget-me-not Blue
       EZ012 Cobalt Black
       EZ023 Midnight Blue
       EZ026 Yellow Orange
       EZ027 Navajo Turquoise
       EZ030 Rose
       EZ032 Peacock Green
       EZ056 Brick Red
       EZ058 Poppy Orange
       EZ062 Iris

The materials needed for this design are:

Sable brush
Wax Resist
Sponge
Sander
Foam edge-brush
Sgraffito tool
Duncan GL612 Diamond Clear Glaze.

1.  Clean and sponge greenware. 

2.  Draw or trace design on greenware.

3.  Paint the stars on the cat in Yellow Orange and outline in Cobalt Black, then wax.

4.  Paint the fish head and tail with Irish Green. Paint the stripes on the fish with Iris and Navajo Turquoise. Sgraffito in lines and circles on the stripes. Using Brick Red paint the heart in the fish's mouth and little triangles in the cat's ears.

5.  Paint the nose in Rose and upper part of the eyes green. Outline the fish, nose and eyes in Cobalt Black. Paint the pupils of the eyes. Wax the eyes, nose and fish.

6.  Paint the entire cat in Poppy Orange. Outline the cat and paint in the whisker and dots under the nose. Wax the Cat.

7.  Paint the background stripes in Peacock Green and Forget-me-not Blue. Distress the stripes with the sander.

8.  Paint the petals of the flowers in Forget-me-not Blue and the centres in Navajo Turquoise, outline and wax.

9.  Paint the rim of the plate in Yellow Orange.

10. Paint the edge in Midnight Blue and inner part of the rim. Sgraffito dots and S's on the inner rim.

11. Make sure you clean off excess paint off the waxed areas.

12. Bisque fire.

13. Glaze using Duncan Diamond Clear Glaze, fire again and enjoy!
