Lemons on a Cup

Lemons on a Cup

This design is suited for a cup, however the design can be adopted to plates, bowls, casserole dishes and vases.

The materials needed for this design are:

Duncan EZ Strokes translucent underglazes:

EZ023 Midnight Blue

EZ025 Lemon Yellow

Sable brush

Liner brush

Sponge

Foam edge-brush

Soft Pencil

Duncan GL612 Diamond Clear Glaze

1. After cleaning and wiping down the cup, draw the design on the cup. Start with the three groups of lemons, one set opposite the handle and on set near the handle on both sides.

2. Paint the lemons in Lemon Yellow, then outline in Midnight Blue.

3. Paint the lines for the major vines in Midnight blue. You should only need one coat, but ensure you have loaded the brush well so you can get long brush stokes.

4. Paint some additional swirls to represent the vine tendrils.

5. Paint the leaves with two strokes of Midnight Blue.

6. Finish off the design with a dark rim, use the foam brush to give a smooth edge and several coats to ensure the darker colour.

7. Bisque fire.

8. Glaze, fire again and enjoy!
