This simple yet effective design lends itself well to the contemporary shape of the sushi set.
The materials needed for this design are:
Duncan EZ Strokes translucent underglazes:
EZ012 Cobalt Jet Black
Sable brush
Soft Pencil
Sgraffito tool
Duncan GL612 Diamond Clear Glaze
1. After cleaning and wiping down the greenware select an area to paint in Cobalt Jet Black. A wide stipe off centre for plates and chop stick rests. a section of a cup, and for bowls, you can paint the in side, a section on the outside similar to the cup or a band around the bowl.
2. Draw the outline of this
section in pencil, then coat with two to three coats of Cobalt Jet Black. As
soon as the black paint looses its sheen, sgraffito in the spirals. Use
different size spirals and remember the spirals should not all be centred on the
black. It is more effective if the design appears to merge with the background.
7. Bisque fire.
8. Glaze, fire again and enjoy!
