1. Sand and clean the greenware. Use a cleanup tool to remove any large amounts of clay left on the greenware, then sand smooth with the sponge. Finally wipe down the greenware with a damp sponge.

2. Draw in the bands around the bottle, start at the bottom and work up. The bands should be of varying width.

Tip If you are varying the design with other patterns draw one of the designs to help calculate the width of the band you require.

3.  Leave the bands of Midnight Blue to last. Paint the bottom band with Chartreuse, then paint the star pattern with Ivy Green. Outline in Cobalt Jet Black adding the extra stokes to the pattern.

4.  Paint the background of the next band with Lemon Yellow. Paint the leaves with Chartreuse and then paint the top half of the leaves with Mint Julep. Outline the leaves in Cobalt Jet Black adding the veins and dots as on the image above. Coat the leaves with wax resist and using the sponge dab the Lemon Yellow background with Coral Red.

5.  Paint the cross pattern with Mint Julep. The French Dimensions will be added last to avoid smudging them.

6.  Paint the next section with Lemon Yellow and with a sponge wipe with Coral Red lightly to give the desired effect. Use Cobalt Jet Black to Outline the scale pattern over this area.

7.  For the top section draw the tear drops on in pencil. Paint the teardrops with Lemon Yellow, then sponge around the rim with the Lemon Yellow. Sponge Coral Red around the lip and on the tear drop. Add the Coral Red dots with the back of the paint brush. Outline the tear drops with Midnight Blue.

8.  Use Midnight Blue to paint the separating strips around the bottle. Add the pattern in the midnight blue with the sgraffito tool. Remember to sgraffito each strip as it dries.

9.  Paint the Rim and handle with Midnight Blue.

10. Sign your name on the bottom of the bottle.

11. The French Dimension can now be added to the bottle, start with the white dots in a small pyramid around the tear drops, the add the black French Dimensions to the Mint Julep cross pattern.

11. Bisque fire.

12. Glaze using Duncan Diamond Clear Glaze and fire again.
