1. Sand and clean the greenware. Use a cleanup tool to remove any large amounts of clay left on the greenware, then sand smooth with the sponge. Finally wipe down the greenware with a damp sponge.
2. Trace the design on to the plate with the carbon paper. Make sure the design is evenly spaced around the plate. Use the inner rim as a guide for the placement of the design.
3. Once you have traced the design onto the plate carefully sgraffito the lines, making sure you dampen each pattern as you go to avoid chipping the edges. The lines should be deep enough so that you will be able to sand off the excess paint from around the lines without removing the lines.
4. Paint the lines with Midnight Blue. Be sure to paint over the edges of the lines, as you want to cover the edges of the sgraffito groves. Let the paint dry for several minutes, then sand of the excess paint leaving the Midnight Blue in the lines only. Dust off with a dry brush.
5. Paint the pattern with Peacock Green and Turquoise Blue. Try to avoid getting paint in the groves, a little will not have an effect but you do not want to paint over all the lines.
6. Use the sponge brush to paint the rim with Midnight Blue.
7. Lastly put the French Dimension dots on.
8. Sign your name on the bottom then Bisque fire.
9. Glaze using Duncan Diamond Clear Glaze and fire again.
