EZ057 Brick Red

1. Sand and clean the greenware. Use a cleanup tool to remove any large amounts of clay left on the greenware, then sand smooth with the sponge. Finally wipe down the greenware with a damp sponge.

2. Trace the design on to the greenware with the carbon paper. For a teapot one chicken on either side is a good balance.

TIP: For a plate or bowl an odd number of patterns appears more balanced to the eye.

3.  Paint the body and the wing of the chicken with Willow Yellow.

4.  Give the wing and beak a wash of Brick Red.

5.  The tail feathers are painted with Pueblo Purple, Peacock Green and Navajo Turquoise.

6.  Outline the chicken in Cobalt Jet Black and add the details for the eye, wing, legs on on the body.

7.  Highlight the eye with the sgraffito tool while the Cobalt Jet Black is still damp.

8.  Paint the dots around the teapot in a mix of Willow Yellow, Pueblo Purple, Peacock Green and Navajo Turquoise, then outline in Cobalt Jet Black.

9.  Paint  a star on the lid in Willow Yellow and outline in Cobalt Jet Black.

10. Sign your name on the bottom then Bisque fire.

11. Glaze using Duncan Diamond Clear Glaze and fire again.
