
This design is suited for a large plate, however the design can be adopted to some other items.
The materials needed for this design are:
Duncan EZ Strokes translucent underglazes: The following colours have been used in this design, however any colours can be used.
EZ012 Cobalt Jet Black
EZ057 Coral Red
EZ Brick RedSable brush
Liner brush
Soft Sander
Soft Pencil
A protractor
A turntable is usefulYou will also need a clock mechanism
Duncan GL612 Diamond Clear Glaze
1. Sand and clean the plate
2. Draw a series of circles around the plate. The easiest way to do this is with the turntable. The first 5mm in from the edge of the plate, the second 30mm in from the edge. This is where the numbers will be painted.
3. Draw another two circles at 35mm and 60mm, these will be for the small symbols.
4. Draw the two last circles on at 75mm in from the edge and the last at half the distance to the middle of the plate.
5. Using the protractor find the middle of the plate and draw lines from the centre to the edge every 30 degrees.
6. Drill a hole in the centre of the plate using the drill bit
7. Using the lines as the centre of the suit figures draw in the outline for each suit and repeat 3 times around the plate. Mix 50% Brick Red with 50% Coral Red and paint the suits in red or black.
8. Paint the numbers around the outside edge.
9. Using the inside two circles and the lines radial lines draw the 4 larger suits in the centre and paint.
10. Bisque Fire.
11. Glaze using Duncan Diamond Clear Glaze and fire again.
12. Fix the clock mechanism to the back of the clock.
